Atlanta is the best city for young professionals for its moderate climate, food scene and business landscape.

Known for its Southern hospitality and an infinite number of things to do, Atlanta has become a hotspot for young professionals in recent years. Located in the heart of the South, Atlanta boasts a moderate climate, impeccable food scene and a dynamic business landscape that attracts and retains young adults who are molding the future of the city. Having moved to Atlanta straight out of college, I’ve experienced first-hand the many benefits the city has to offer and have highlighted a few below.

Temperate Climate

Enjoy patio weather? Atlanta experiences it nine months out of the year. Our temperatures rarely drop below freezing, meaning you can enjoy our 343 city parks nearly 365 days per year. Coming from the Midwest, I cannot tell you how much I enjoy having my Saturday morning coffee on the porch in November. For those who love being outside as much as I do, you can bike the Silver Comet Trail that extends from Atlanta to Alabama or jog on the Beltline from Krog Street Market to Piedmont Park year round. A short drive out of the city you can find great lakes and rivers, and there are some excellent hiking and camping spots as you approach the north Georgia mountains for the truly outdoorsy folks.

A Food Lover’s Dream

Atlanta is home to many eclectic neighborhoods each with their unique flair and food. Buckhead boasts many high rises and ritzy areas for an upscale dining experience. Mere miles away is Buford Highway, which anyone from Atlanta will tell you is THE place to go for authentic ethnic foods of all types- you can find an amazing bahn mi right up the road from authentic soup dumplings. There’s also Inman Park which hosts tons of trendy, eclectic restaurants and is continuing to open more new hot spots as we speak, and West Midtown with its industrial vibe which is known for its excellent restaurant options, my personal favorite being The Optimist.

Booming Business

More than 150,000 businesses are based in Atlanta, including 29 Fortune 1000 companies headquartered in the area such as Coca-Cola, Home Depot, United Parcel Service, Delta Air Lines, AT&T Mobility and Newell Rubbermaid. This means there are opportunities for great jobs in many different industries from healthcare to manufacturing and the rapidly-growing movie and arts scene. For young professionals just starting out in their careers, or maybe those who aren’t quite sure what they want to do yet, Atlanta offers so many great opportunities to kick start your career and find your passion.
