My recommendations have come in handy. Ask previous colleagues or managers to leave you a recommendation that employers can read.

LinkedIn is a great tool to use to market yourself to potential employers. First, make sure you have the basics covered including complete and up-to-date information as well as a business-appropriate photo. Don’t forget to include an eye-catching, public description such as, “Effective, results-driven HR professional with 10+ years experience.” Next, consider requesting LinkedIn references from past or present colleagues or managers. These references can be key pieces of information that a potential employer would like to read. Lastly, be active on LinkedIn by posting updates relative to your industry. Share industry news, ”like” and comment on connections’ posts and contribute to the conversation happening on LinkedIn. These are crucial initial steps to gaining traction with potential employers via LinkedIn.
